Lush Forestry awaits the Nature Lover

With 62% of the Dutch East Indies being covered with forestry, this puts us just second behind the Amazon! The Dutch East Indies is also home to 227 bird species, of which 77 are not found anywhere else on Earth. Take a trek on one of our guided tours through our forests - touch trees aged 150 years old, breathe in the clean, clear air of nature and sight rare birds, a must visit for the Nature Lover.

Beautiful Marine Life of the Dutch East Indies

Coral reef island off the coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia
At the heart of the Coral Triangle, the world's richest marine region, Dutch East Indies' coral reefs provide homes for 1000 species of fish.

Also forming one of the natives' primary occupation, fishing provides food on the table as well as the Dutch East Indies' profitable exports. Undaunted by maritime sea routes for the Spice Trade such as the Clove Route and the Cinnamon Route, fishing is still a thriving business, whether for leisure or for work.

Allow local fishermen to take you on their traditional boats, known as Jukung, as you experience how to fish on the waters off Dutch East Indies. Don't know how to fish? Then just enjoy the show, sit back and relax, as you float on these Jukung without a care in the world.
