History of Dutch East Indies

ackground Information:

Europeans first stepped into Dutch East Indies in the 16th century, searching for valuable spices they did not have locally. The Dutch East India Company (VOC), a trading company, was established in 1602. However, it was dissolved in 1800 due to bankruptcy. Dutch East Indies was then made a nationalized colony.

Taking over would mean that the Dutch have a chance at having a monopoly around the archipelago - on one hand, they could control the spice trade, and on the other, the sea trade taking place over at the Dutch East Indies.
